UPDATES

Michigan Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA) Updates:

Hello Michigan Lacrosse,

With the spring season around the corner, the thud of lacrosse balls banging against bricks can be heard across the state. I hope everyone is doing well and preparing for a great year ahead.

The 2025 MYLA Information Guide has been released. The updates and information in this guide are intended to help you and your program provide your community with the best lacrosse experience.

1) Boys & Girls Rule changes for 2025.  Changes to the boys & girls rules for 2025 are listed below. In addition, there are image cards included in the MYLA Info Guide to show the different rules for different age levels.

2) The 2025 MYLA Info Guide - This guide is meant to be a resource for your program during the upcoming season. Inside, you will find information about rules, game and safety procedures, important contacts, and a host of other information designed to answer administrator, coach, and parent questions quickly and easily. Please share this resource! It is our hope that by standardizing the way we play the game in Michigan, we will create a stronger base from which Michigan youth lacrosse can grow.

3) Leagues/Conferences - One of the goals of MYLA is to organize youth programs into leagues and conferences. Participating in a regional league streamlines scheduling, adds structure, builds continuity, and builds community. If you need assistance finding/starting a league in your area, we can help.

4) Program Resources - USA Lacrosse provides a number of resources for organizational best practices, safety procedures, parent education, and risk management, to name a few. Program leaders are encouraged to review these materials and implement best practices into their programs.

5) "1 More" Officials Recruiting Initiative- Without officials, there are no games! From former players looking to earn some extra income (up to $100/hr!) and give back to the game, to the parents and sports fans that recognize the importance and value of good officials, there are a ton of opportunities to get involved. New officials are invited to fill out THIS FORM in order to be connected with the officials' organization in your area.

Stay tuned for more upcoming opportunities and information that will help us all take Michigan lacrosse to the next level. Thank you for your continued efforts and support. I look forward to seeing you around the fields soon.

Best,

Mark Greaney
